Livestock farming :Group harps on technology

The Nigerian Association of Animal Health and Husbandry Technologists (NAAHHT) has urged farmers to embrace integrated farming and the use of modern techniques and technologies in fish and livestock farming for sustainability.

This was disclosed during the association’s annual meeting in Ibadan where the speakers noted that to resolve the glut that was deepening in the livestock sector, modern techniques must be employed.

Oyo State chairman of NAAHHT, Mr Kazeem Akingboye, said the summit was designed to address challenges ranging from egg gluts, funding, double taxation, and raw materials for livestock confronting agribusiness in the country and proffering solutions to them.

Other speakers including, Chief Executive Officer of FDH AgroVet Nig., Mr. Femi Akinwale and Executive Vice President, Animal Care, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Agbato expressed desire for sustainability of the sector which they believed was only possible with the employment of technology.
